OMAHA, Neb. — One year after a Nebraska State Patrol trooper was killed in the line of duty, colleagues are honoring his life and service.

The Nebraska State Patrol is remembering Trooper Kyle McAcy, who died Feb. 17, 2025, after being struck by a snowplow on Interstate 80.

McAcy, 31, was responding with other troopers to a crash near mile marker 424 between Ashland and Greenwood when the incident happened. According to a preliminary investigation, he was outside his patrol unit when he was struck. Fellow troopers immediately rendered aid, but he died at the scene.

In posts shared Tuesday on X, the Nebraska State Patrol said, “A year ago today we lost a friend and dedicated Nebraska State Trooper: Kyle McAcy #302.”

The agency said hundreds of messages poured in from across the country in the days following his death. To honor him, his shiftmates shared some of those messages in a tribute video.

“His service and sacrifice will always be remembered, but his impact on everyone he knew is unforgettable,” the patrol wrote. “Please keep his family, friends, and our troopers in your thoughts today on this tough day.”
