Fifty years ago, a documentary chronicled a Nebraska high school’s class reunion. It’s about to hit the big screen
The Beatrice High Class of 1961 recently gathered to celebrate its 65th class reunion and watch a documentary on their 15-year reunion. It remains a “hidden gem” of cinema, says the manager of a Lincoln theater that will screen the film this month

The feature-length documentary “Reunion ’61-’76” chronicled Beatrice High’s 15-year reunion in 1976. After airing on Nebraska public television that year, the film largely vanished. Now, 50 years later, The Ross in Lincoln will screen the film on July 29.Photo courtesy of John Spence
